Posting Video
You do not have to post video online to participate in 52 Pick-Up. But after all of that work, why wouldn't you?

If you do want to post your videos online, you will need to compress them into Quicktime files at: 480x360 or 480x270 and transfer to me.

If you're uncompressed file is smaller than 500MB, you can FTP it to me as is, and I will compress for you.
Email: dayna(at)52pickupvideos.com for FTP information.
Make sure you have an FTP application that you know how to use like Cyberduck (for Mac) or send files via YouSendIt.

Submissions must be received via FTP every Saturday at 12noon Easter Standard Time.
Allow 2 days from completion of FTP transfer for video to be posted: ideally, videos will be posted by 12noon, Mondays.

Compression
Keep your file size to a minimum while maximizing image quality.
Try to keep your files under 10MB, and ensure that you are using the .mov or .mp4 extension.

**After much testing, my personal love affair with mp4 has come to an end. It seems that mp4s don't stream as well as movs, and this has impacted users to our site. I'm now using H.264 which looks great, streams, and still keeps file size small(ish).

I'm using Compressor, which comes bundled with Final Cut Pro, and both i-Movie and Final Cut Pro have Quicktime Compression that is fairly easy to use. If you need help with compression, email: dayna(at)52pickupvideos.com

Personally, I'm not a fan of the YouTube logo over video, even though as a site and as a cultural phenomenon they're awesome. I'm also not a fan of Real Media or Windows Media. If you would like to participate in this project and do not want to use Quicktime, you can always submit a URL to link to your video instead.

Images
Also prepare 1 or 2, 720x480 (approx) frame grabs and/or image(s) that represent each week's video in tiff, jpg, or png format. Email me or FTP with your video.

File Naming
Name movie files like this: LastName_weeknumber.mov (example: McLeod_week1.mov)
Name image files like this: LastName_weeknumber.imagenumber.jpg (example: McLeod_week1.1.jpg, McLeod_week1.2.jpg)
